Hartford man ‘beheaded with samurai sword by his “sovereign citizen” roommate over rent dispute’

A Hartford, Connecticut, man has been arrested and accused of beheading his roommate, who was a nationally recognized bridge player, with a samurai sword, the New York Post reports.Jerry David Thompson, 42, has refused to answer investigators’ questions about his beheaded roommate in Hartford, with the man accused of murder saying that he is a sovereign citizen. Thompson recently began sharing a home with Victor King, 64, who was retired from working for Travelers insurance company and who played bridge professionally.

The beheading was precipitated by a dispute between the two Hartford men, with King upset with his roommate because he wasn’t paying rent.King was beheaded on Sunday. The day prior, he had reported to the Hartford police that the man who was his roommate had waved the scimitar at him.Friends of the championship bridge player were unable to reach him the day of his murder. Concerned, they called the cops.
