Georgia’s secretary of state Brad Raffensperger has said there will be a margin of a few thousand votes in the key swing state.
“With a margin that small, there will be a recount in Georgia,” he said. “The final tally at this point has huge implications for our entire country.”
“The stakes are high and emotions are high on all sides. We will not let those debates distract us from our work.”
There are 4,169 ballots left to count in Georgia, with Joe Biden leading narrowly by 1,098 votes.
Georgia election official Gabriel Sterling added the state is “literally looking at a margin of less than a large high school”.
